Watch: Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan survived a scare when a bouncer by Vivian Kingma got stuck between the batter's helmet visor and grill as he missed an attempted pull shot
Bangladesh were put in to bat first by Netherlands in the Group D clash at the T20 World Cup in Kingstown, St Vincent. After the two early wickets of Najmul Hossain Shanto (one off three) and Litton Das (one off two), Tanzid stitched a 48-run third-wicket partnership with Shakib Al Hasan to rescue Bangladesh.
The left-handed opener made 35 off 26 balls in a knock that included five fours and a six. During his innings though, he survived a scary incident when a Vivian Kingma bouncer beat his attempted pull shot for pace and got stuck between the visor and grill of his helmet.
The incident ocurred on the fifth ball of the third over, leaving Tanzid surprised as he took some time to recover from the blow. The Bangladesh physio had to come out and check for a concussion as per the usual protocol whenever a batter gets hit on the helmet.
Fortunately, he was fine and was able to continue his innings to give Bangladesh a decent platform. They finished on 159-5 in their 20 overs. In response, Netherlands were 104-3 in 14 overs at the time of writing.
