Cricket New Zealand had announced their squad via two children, Matilda and Angus. Cricket Australia adopted a creative route as well: the members of their 2007 World Cup winning squad and their families unveiled their 2024 t20 World Cup squad on June 2.
The 2007 champion side, one of the greatest in World Cup history, had won all 11 matches in that tournament – their only title triumph in the West Indies, who will be co-hosting the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Stuart Clark, Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath and Matthew Hayden were part of the video released on Cricket Australia’s social media. Will and Chloe Symonds, children of the late Andrew Symonds, were part of the announcement as well.
Australia named their squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup with Mitchell Marsh as their captain. Notable omissions include Steve Smith, Matthew Short, and Jake Fraser-McGurk, who failed to make the cut despite his stellar form in the ongoing IPL.

We weren’t sure how to announce this year’s @T20WorldCup squad, so we asked a few of our friends to do it for us…#T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/6rQZEe2LBQ
