Uganda will play in their first-ever men's T20 World Cup in the 2024 edition, having beaten Zimbabwe in the Qualifier to secure their place. Here's their squad for the tournament, including injury replacements.
Uganda are in Group C for the tournament, where they will face New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea. They will begin their campaign on June 3 against Afghanistan in Guyana. They will then play Papua New Guinea two days later, and hosts the West Indies before departing Guyana for Trinidad and Tobago. There they will play New Zealand in their last group stage game on June 14.
The fairytale began for Uganda when they finished second in the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier tournament last year. They won all but one of their games, including beating hosts Zimbabwe by five wickets, to claim qualification alongside Namibia.
The squad will be captained by Brian Masaba, who will lead a side with plenty of experience among its ranks. That's epitomised by 43-year-old Frank Nsubuga, who played in the 1997 ICC Trophy when he was 17. Spin bowling all-rounder Alpesh Ramjani is also in the squad, having taken the most wickets of anyone in men's T20Is last year (55). He is alongside fellow left-arm orthodox spinner Henry Ssenyondo, who took 48 T20I wickets in 2023.
Rizat Ali Shah and Dinesh Nakrani will be the main aggressors with the bat, while Juma Miyaju, who played in the 2022 U19 Men's World Cup, is also in the squad.
