WI vs PNG, NAM vs OMA: T20 World Cup 2024 team news

The first team to win the T20 World Cup twice, the West Indies had spiralled to a first-round elimination in 2022, but are now back with one of the strongest units of this edition. And while their batting unit is among the most explosive, keep an eye on their incisive pacers and canny spinners.

Led by Assad Vala, Papua New Guinea are not quite in the same league, but ten members of their squad featured in the 2021 edition. Expect Ura himself and Assad Vala to take centre stage with the bat. Their thin spin attack may be exposed if it the usual slow Providence surface. In that case, Charles Amini has to play a major role.

The traditionally quicker Bridgetown pitch may play a role in the other match. In Ruben Trumpelmann, Tangeni Lungameni, Ben Shikingo, and the omnipresent David Wiese, Namibia probably have the better of the two seam attacks, but in Fayyaz Butt, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan, and Shakeel Ahmed, Oman are not far behind.
