BAN vs NED, ENG vs OMA, AFG vs PNG: T20 World Cup 2024 team news

BAN vs NED news

With South Africa already in the Super Eights, the second spot in Group D is up for grabs. Both teams can qualify if they win their remaining two matches.

Towhid Hridoy has carried Bangladesh’s batting so far. Shoriful Islam, who sustained a split webbing in the warm-up against India, may return. Netherlands are unlikely to make any changes.

ENG vs OMA news

A washout against Scotland in their campaign opener and a defeat against Australia have complicated England’s road to Super Eights. With Australia already in the second round and Namibia and Oman out of contention, the second place will be contested between Scotland and England.

The temptation to bring in Ben Duckett might cost out-of-form Jonny Bairstow his place in the playing XI. Oman’s team will probably remain the same despite a couple of defeats.

AFG vs PNG news

Afghanistan are leading the Group C points table and are favourites to make the second round along with co-hosts West Indies. A plethora of all-rounders gives them flexibility with their batting order, which largely revolves around the opening duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid Khan are expected to continue with their good form.

Though Papua New Guinea have lost all their matches, they can take heart from their opening fixture when they briefly had the West Indies in trouble before Roston Chase rescued them. Sese Bau is their only player to score a half-century this tournament, and PNG will expect him to shine.
