Vaughan accuses ICC of favouring India

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has slammed ICC's scheduling of the T20 World Cup, calling it being biased towards India. India were the only country to have their semi-final venue predecided before their qualification, leading to lots of debate around the integrity of the competition.

Vaughan became the latest to reignite the debate by accusing the ICC of being "unfair". "Surely this Semi should have been the Guyana one .. but because the whole event is geared towards India it’s so unfair on others," he wrote on X.

'Doesn't jump around like Virat Kohli' – Kapil Dev hails Rohit Sharma's captaincy

India’s 1983 ODI World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, has praised Rohit Sharma for his leadership in the ongoing tournament. At the same time, he took a dig at Virat Kohli, Rohit's predecessor.

"If Virat Kohli can lift 150 kg and 250kg dumbbells, that doesn't mean Rohit should do the same. It seems like Rohit knows his game very well. He plays within himself. He is not like Virat Kohli and doesn't jump around. Rohit is aware of his limitations and there is no one better than him in that respect, not even Virat," Kapil said to ABP News.

Kapi added: "Many big players come in and they play for themselves, captain for their sake. For that, I feel Rohit has a big tick mark that he keeps the entire team happy."

'The guy is playing for his country'– Ashwin defends Naib's contentious 'cramp'

Ravichandran Ashwin has backed all-rounder Gulbadin Naib's controversial injury antics during Afghanistan's must-win Super Eights match against Bangladesh.

“Jonathan Trott was telling from the dressing room to slow it down and after that, Naib fell on the ground like a broken tree branch. Everyone is saying he will be penalised for it. But what’s the problem?" Ashwin questioned on his YouTube channel. "The guy is playing for his country, trying to win a World Cup qualifier."

Silverwood steps down as Sri Lanka coach

In the aftermath of Sri Lanka’s group-stage exit from the T20 World Cup, head coach Chris Silverwood has resigned. In a statement released by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), Silverwood cited personal reasons for his decision.

During his tenure, Sri Lanka won the 2022 Asia Cup played in the T20 format, and also reached the finals in the ODI edition in 2023.
