South Africa the first team to enter Super Eights

Heavy rainfall forced the T20 World Cup match between Sri Lanka and Nepal in Florida to be called off. The result helped Group D toppers South Africa, who have won all their three matches, become the first team to advance to the next round of the tournament.

Having lost to South Africa and Bangladesh in their first two games, the washout has pushed Sri Lanka to the brink of elimination.

Australia steamroll Namibia to qualify for Super Eights

Australia qualified for the next round of the tournament after beating Namibia by nine wickets. Chasing a paltry 73-run target, Travis Head (34 not out off 17), David Warner (20 off eight) and Mitchell Marsh (18 nut out off nine) teed off from the word go to get Australia over the line in 5.4 overs.

In terms of balls remaining, it was a record chase for Australia.

Zampa first Australian to 100 T20I wickets

Adam Zampa became the first Australia bowler to take 100 wickets in men's T20Is. The wrist-spinner achieved this feat against Namibia in the T20 World Cup, taking 4-12 to blast away the opposition for 72. Zampa leads Mitchell Starc, who is second on the list with 76 wickets from 62 matches, while Josh Hazlewood sits third with 64 wickets from 48 matches.

Haris Rauf becomes third-fastest to 100 T20I wickets

Another player to breach the 100-wicket mark recently, Haris Rauf, achieved the feat in 71 matches, the third-quickest and the quickest by a fast bowler. Rauf trails Rashid Khan (58), Wanindu Hasaranga (63) on the list.

Ashley Noffke will step down as Queensland Fire and WBBL Brisbane Heat coach after accepting a coaching role with the Otago Volts in New Zealand. Noffke took on the Heat and Queensland coaching roles in 2019-20, winning a WBBL title in his first year and helping Queensland to their maiden Women’s National Cricket League title in 2020-21.

Gurbaz joins Guyana Amazon Warriors for CPL 2024

Guyana Amazon Warriors have opted for Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s service in CPL 2024. Gurbaz will relink with the side, having played for them previously in 2022. Imran Tahir, who led the franchise to their maiden title win last year, has been retained.
