The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup started on June 1, with co-hosts USA beating Canada comprehensively in the tournament opener in Dallas, Texas. For the first time, the USA will co-host the tournament with several Caribbean nations in a bid to popularise the sport globally. T20 World Cup 2024: Schedule & format
20 teams have been equally divided into four groups each. The top two teams from each group will carry forward their seedings from the first round.
There will be two groups of four in the Super 8 stage. The top two sides from each Super Eight group will then advance to the semi-finals, to be played on June 26 and 27 at Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
The group divisions are as follows:
Group A: India, Pakistan, Ireland, USA and Canada
Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland and Oman
Group C: West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, PNG and Uganda
Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Netherlands along with Nepal
