A washout against Canada in their last group-stage match meant India cruised to the semi-finals with six wins from seven matches. Against England in the top-four clash, they avenged their 2022 semi-final loss with a stunning 68-run win architected by their spinners.
On the other hand, South Africa have had a spotless record with seven wins from seven matches. Although they were challenged by Bangladesh and Nepal in the first round, the Aiden Markram-led side kept their nerves and qualified for the Super Eights without any hiccups. They bowled Afghanistan for a record-low score in the semi-final to book their place in the title decider.
Both will look to end their prolonged trophy droughts. India have not won a global title since the 2013 Champions Trophy, while South Africa’s last win came in the same competition but back in 1998.
