The list of match officials for the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup final, which takes place on Saturday (June 29), has been announced. Here's the full list.
The ICC have announced that Chris Gaffaney and Richard Illingworth will be the on-field umpires for the game. Gaffaney is a former New Zealand first-class cricketer who played as a batter. He made his debut as an international umpire in 2010, was elevated to the ICC Elite Umpire panel in 2015, and umpired during the 2015, 2019 and 2023 Men's Cricket World Cups. During his time as an ICC umpire, he has officiated on the field in 49 T20I matches, 86 ODIs and 54 Tests, including the World Test Championship final last year.
Illingworth, a former England Test cricketer who played in the 1992 and 1996 World Cups, joined the ICC's International list in 2009 and the elite panel in 2013. He has umpired 34 T20Is in his career, 90 ODIs and 69 Tests. He stood alongside Gaffaney on the field for the 2023 World Test Championship final.
Richard Kettleborough will be the TV Umpire for the final, while Rod Tucker will be the fourth umpire. Kettleborough is another former English cricketer, having played 33 first-class matches for Yorkshire. Former West Indies captain Richie Richardson will be the match referee.
Play will get underway in the final at 10:30am local time at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. India are bidding to win their first T20 World Cup since the innaugural edition of the competition, while South Africa have never won a men's ICC trophy.
