Today's T20 World Cup match preview

India v England, Semi-final 2
Where: Providence Stadium, Georgetown, Guyana
When: June 27, 10:30 am local time

India will be up against their familiar foes, England, in a near encore of the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, which they lost by 10 wickets. However, the spinning conditions on offer are much different from those in Adelaide back then, giving them an advantage.

On the other hand, England stumbled through the group stage and had to rely on net run-rate to qualify for the Super Eights. They later made it to the semi-finals by beating West Indies and the USA by a huge margin.

IND vs ENG: Who are the key players?

Rohit Sharma

Much like last year's ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma has looked to set the tempo of the innings at the top in this tournament. Against Australia, Rohit perhaps played one of the all-timers in the competition’s history.

Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid is England’s answer to Kuldeep Yadav. Having started tentatively, he has found his mojo as the tournament went deep.

IND vs ENG team news

India

India introduced Kuldeep in place of Mohammed Siraj in the Super Eights stage of the tournament and have persisted with him since then. They will unlikely tinker with the template, especially on the spin-conducive surface in Guyana.

England

Considering the conditions, England may move away from fielding a four-pronged seam attack that has paid them rich dividends in the latter half of the tournament. Will Jacks will probably come in to strengthen their batting. His ability to bowl wrist-spin also gives him an edge over others.
