Today's T20 World Cup match preview

India v Bangladesh, Super Eights, ICC T20 World Cup 2024
Where: Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua
When: June 22, 10.30am local time

Gasping for air in the Super Eights, Bangladesh meet the yet to be defeated India team in Antigua, the same venue where they were blanked by Australia two days ago.

The main contest could be India's in-form bowling against Bangladesh's stumbling batting: so far, Bangladesh have worked hard to chase 125 once, failed to chase 114, bundled for 106 and crawled to 140-8. Their best of 159 came against the Netherlands, while they also beat Sri Lanka and Nepal.

India, on the other hand, have had their batting challenges too, but their wins have been headlined by the duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, as well as Suryakumar Yadav's rescue acts. A wobbly top order is what Bangladesh's well-balanced attack will try to break into early.

In their warm-up match, India comprehensively defeated Bangladesh, scoring 182-5 and winning by 60 runs.

T20 World Cup results: Who won yesterday's match?

England vs South Africa: South Africa won by seven runs

West Indies v USA:
West Indies won by nine wickets

Who are the key players?

Rishad Hossain

Rishad's leg-spin could be key in the middle overs after Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib have done the initial work. Rishabh Pant, India's leading run-getter in this tournament, strikes at 119 against leggies in T20Is, while for the in-form Surya, the number is 179. If Rishad can contain both, it could turn out to be decisive.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep has taken seven wickets across his last two games. interestingly, only two of those have come in the powerplay. He'd be looking to make early in-roads against a Bangladesh side that has a best opening stand of nine in the tournament so far. Tanzid Hasan Tamim, with two ducks in a row, could be in the line of fire.

IND vs BAN team news

India

India left out Mohammed Siraj in the last game for Kuldeep Yadav, and are likely to stick to that XI against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh

Tanzid's form may tempt Bangladesh to find space for Soumya Sarkar: his only game of the T20 World Cup so far ended in a two-ball duck.
