A total of 55 matches will be played between 20 teams, who are divided equally into four groups for the first phase, to be held in the USA and the West Indies. The first round will be hosted by nine cities, making it the largest T20 World Cup in history in this aspect.
The tournament will begin with hosts USA locking horns against Canada in Dallas on June 1, while the final will be played in Bridgetown on June 29. Co-hosts West Indies will start the campaign a day later against Papua New Guinea.
England are the reigning champions. In the previous edition in 2022, they beat Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win their second title and draw level with the West Indies, who have also won in 2012 and 2016. Sam Curran was named Player of the Tournament for his 13 wickets from six matches at 11.38 and 6.52, including a brilliant spell of 4-12 in the final. He also recorded his career-best figures of 5-10 in a Super 12 match against Afghanistan.

England will start their title defence on June 4 in Barbados against neighbours Scotland. They will also play Australia, Namibia, and Oman in Group B on the islands of Barbados and Antigua & Barbuda.
