On Saturday, England geared up for a pivotal T20 World Cup clash against Namibia at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. With a washout looking likely, Cricket Scotland appeared to have a good laugh on social media, at England's expense.

Scotland and England have been traditional sporting rivals for a very long time. It's a rivalry that is growing in cricket, with Scotland memorably beating England in an ODI and 2018, but the two sides have only played each other rarely. However, having been drawn in the same group for the T20 World Cup, they had a chance to compete for the same prize; qualification to the Super Eights.

At this stage, England have been left needing to defeat Namibia in their final group stage match in order to stand a chance of progressing. A point gained in the case of an abandoned match will not help them. With the rain coming and going, play is looking unlikely, meaning England could be out of the tournament at the first hurdle, with Scotland going through to the Super Eights instead.

Ahead of Scotland's match against Australia, scheduled to begin hours after England's, the team's official social media account appeared to take the opportunity to twist the knife, posting pictures of the "beautiful" sunny weather in St Lucia.

England are in this position thanks to their match against Scotland being washed out, before losing to Australia by 36 runs. They bounced back with a record-breaking victory over Oman, but given that Scotland defeated Oman and Namibia, England need to beat Namibia and hope Australia beat Scotland, in order to take the second available Super Eights spot in Group B.
