Watch: Odean Smith smashed a mammoth 106-metre six during the West Indies’ T20 World Cup clash against Ireland. The ball, after a lot of hang time, hit the scoreboard at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Smith, who was batting alongside Brandon King, decided to flex his muscles in the final over of the West Indies’ innings. Mark Adair erred in length and bowled a juicy full toss at the stumps. Smith backed away very early and smashed the ball well over the deep mid wicket fence. The ball travelled more than a hundred metres and hit the scoreboard as well.
Smith’s cameo allowed the West Indies to get past the 140-run mark. At the start of their innings, they struggled and lost Kyle Mayers early. Evin Lewis did not have much of an impact either and they had to depend on King to anchor the innings. Smith’s knock allowed King to bat through the innings and ensured that the West Indies had a competitive total on the board.
