Watch: Bas de Leede survived two stumping chances on the same delivery before proceeding to finish off the game for the Netherlands against Zimbabwe during a 2022 T20 World Cup encounter.

The second ball of the 18th over, bowled by Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams, had plenty of action without a favourable result for the side. Williams bowled straight, and de Leede took a few strides outside his crease as he looked for a big one. He missed, and the ball went and settled into wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva’s gloves.

De Leede, confident of being dismissed, started walking back assuming that the bails had been whipped off and he had been stumped. Little did he realise that Chakabva had fumbled. However, with de Leede well outside his crease, he had plenty of time to gather the ball again and stump out the striker a second time.

The second attempt was unsuccessful as well, as Chakabva dropped the ball again. Amidst all this, de Leede had returned to the crease. The batter struck a four off the final delivery of the over to win the game: the Netherlands chasing down 118 runs with five wickets to spare to register their first win in the Super 12 stage of the tournament.
