Zimbabwe had gotten off to a rocky start and had lost two wickets when Glover came on to bowl the final over of the powerplay. The second ball of the over offered Chakabva a little width and he cut it fiercely towards backward point, where Bas de Leede grassed the opportunity. A ball later, the Chakabva feathered the ball through to Netherlands wicketkeeper and captain Scott Edwards. Fortunately for Chakabva, the Dutch keeper could not hold on.

Just as Chakabva would have thought that this was his day, Glover hit back with a superb nip-backer. The ball pitched on off stump and decked back into Chakabva, wrapping him in front of the stumps. The umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger, with Chakabva not even bothering with a review. Ian Bishop, who was on commentary, chimed, “If they don’t want to catch it, I will do the work myself and win the lbw.” Chakabva’s dismissal, coupled with the Netherlands’ accuracy throughout the innings, meant that Zimbabwe could only muster 117 runs on the board. This was also a must-win clash for Zimbabwe to keep their hopes of a semi-final spot alive.
