The 15-member West Indies squad for T20 World Cup 2022 has been announced – here is the complete team list for the T20 event, including injury news, reserve players and replacement updates for West Indies at the tournament.

The team will be led by Nicholas Pooran, while Rovman Powell has been named vice-captain. Apart from Pooran, Johnson Charles can also keep wickets. The batting consists of Powell, the two wicketkeepers, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, and Evin Lewis. The specialist bowlers – Sheldon Cottrell, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy – form an impressive quartet.

However, West Indies’s riches are in their all-rounders – Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Odean Smith, Raymon Reifer, and Yannic Cariah. Now 30, Cariah has never played a T20I or in the Caribbean Premier League – or even any Twenty20 cricket since 2016. Following the recent axing of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, the squad boasts of only three survivors of the world champions of 2016 – Charles, Lewis, and Holder.

West Indies are the only team to have won the T20 World Cup twice, in 2012 and 2016. However, this time they have to play in the first round. They are placed in Group B, along with Ireland, Scotland, and Zimbabwe. Only two of the four teams – along with two others from Group A – will make it to the Super 12s. West Indies play their first round matches at the Bellerive Oval, on October 17, 19, and 21.
