The semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup will be played between New Zealand and Pakistan, followed by England and India to decide who will compete for the winner’s trophy at the MCG in the final.
The Super 12s came to a dramatic conclusion as the Netherlands shocked South Africa and won their encounter by 13 runs. The result meant that Pakistan and Bangladesh faced off at the Adelaide Oval in what was in effect a quarter-final, with Pakistan ending up as winners chasing down 127 with five-wickets to spare.
Pakistan’s win meant that they qualified for the semi-finals from Group 2 alongside India, with the two nations joined by New Zealand and England who both qualified from Group 1.
New Zealand finished top of their group after winning three of their five games, with one washout and a defeat to England. Meanwhile England qualified with the same record but finished second due to a lower net run rate, after losing to Ireland and a narrow victory over Sri Lanka.
The two semi-finals are to be played in Sydney and Adelaide with New Zealand v Pakistan to be played first and then India v England the following day. Both matches have reserve days scheduled in the event of rain, as does the final.
