The 15-member Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup 2022 has been announced – here is the complete team list for the T20 event, including injury news, reserve players and replacement updates for Pakistan at the tournament.

The team will be led by Babar Azam, while Shadab Khan has been named vice-captain. Babar is likely to open batting with wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, with whom he has forged a prolific, if slightly slow, pair at the top. In Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Haider Ali, and – in his new Twenty20 avatar – Shan Masood, they have a plethora of middle-order batters to choose from.

Pakistan’s traditional strength, fast bowling, will rely on Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Hasnain and the all-rounders – Shadab, Mohammad Nawaz, and Mohammad Wasim. Khushdil, too, can roll his arm over if needed. Usman Qadir has been ruled out due to injury, with Fakhar Zaman replacing him. The standby cricketers include Shahnawaz Dahani, and Mohammad Haris.

Pakistan finished runners-up in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, in 2007, and won the second edition, in 2009. However, they have not reached the final since then. This time, they are placed in Group 2 of the Super 12s, along with India, Bangladesh, and South Africa. They will be joined by the table toppers of Group A and the runners-up of Group B from the First Round. Pakistan will play their Super 12s matches on October 23, 27, and 30, and November 3 and 6.
