Pakistan and Zimbabwe are set to face-off at the Optus Stadium in Perth in the 2022 T20 World Cup Super 12 on Thursday – here’s where you can watch PAK vs ZIM on TV and live streaming.
After Pakistan’s nail-biting loss to India in their first match of the competition, they now face a potentially tricky encounter with Zimbabwe in a bid to get their first win of the tournament. Virat Kohli’s sensational 82 off 53 balls thwarted Pakistan at the last hurdle in the opening round, India recovering from 31-4 thanks to Kohli’s assault. The Pakistan bowlers will have to bounce back quickly after the win slipped through their fingers, particularly Mohammad Nawaz who bowled a nine ball final over in the fixture to help India clinch victory.
Pakistan will also be hoping for bigger contributions from their two openers. Babar Azam was dismissed for a first-ball duck against India and Mohammad Rizwan for a 12 ball four. They will be more than happy with how their middle-order it shaping up, however, with Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed both with tournament fifties under their belts, countering criticisms of a top-heavy batting lineup going into the tournament.
Zimbabwe had a lucky escape against South Africa in their first-round match, after the game was abandoned due to rain before South Africa could bat for the required five overs for a result. Quinton de Kock was rocketting South Africa towards their target, on 47 off 18 balls before the rain curtailed his attack. In their shortened innings, Zimbabwe had made a good recovery after collapsing to 19-4, Wesley Madhevere scoring an unbeaten 35 to give his side some hope of defending a small target.
There were worrying scenes for the Zimbabwe bowlers, however, with Richard Ngarava leaving the field clutching his left thigh after slipping on the wet outfield. Zimbabwe will also be hoping Sikandar Raza continues his form from the group stages where he scored 136 runs across three matches, including 82 off 48 balls against Ireland.
