This will be the eighth T20 encounter between England and Pakistan in a month, as the two sides clash against each other during a warm-up game on Monday, October 17. The match will be played at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane at 6pm local time (1pm Pakistan time).
This will be England’s first and only practice match before they begin their T20 World Cup campaign five days later – on October 22, against Afghanistan at Perth. Pakistan, on the other hand, will play another warm-up game at the same venue on October 19, taking on neighbours Afghanistan.
England enter the T20 World Cup in fine form. They recently won the seven-match series against Pakistan 4-3 away from home on what was a hard-fought tour. They then went on to defeat Australia 2-0 Down Under, with the third T20 getting washed out due to rain.
Pakistan too will be high on confidence. They reached the final of the Asia Cup in the UAE but lost out to Sri Lanka. They went on to lose the series against England, but were never out of the series, constantly giving the visitors a tough fight. They managed to clich the T20 tri-series in New Zealand, which also featured the hosts and Bangladesh, giving them the much-needed momentum.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup encounter will on October 23, when they take on India in the big game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
