Ireland and New Zealand will play their final match of the T20 World Cup Super 12 on Friday, November 4 at the Adelaide Oval – here’s where to watch the match live on TV channels and live streaming.
Neither side is mathematically out of qualification, although Ireland can pretty much be counted out given how unlikely it is not only that they will thrash New Zealand but also both Australia and England will lose their matches by significant margins. While Ireland have played some brilliant matches in this World Cup, not least by beating England in the rain affected match at the MCG, this is likely to be their last appearance in this year’s competition.
New Zealand will be looking to bounce back from their loss to England and not upset their chances of qualification by stumbling against Ireland. If they win the match, they will be in prime position to not just go through to the semi finals but to qualify as winners of Group One. They boast a highly superior net run rate than both England and Australia thanks to their huge wins over Australia and Sri Lanka.
Runners up in last year’s tournament, if New Zealand are to go one better this year and claim their first limited overs trophy they will need more fire-power from Glenn Phillips, who scored a brilliant century against Sri Lanka before his 62 off 36 against England. Their veteran quick bowlers, Tim Southee and Trent Boult will also need to continue their World Cup form.
Lorcan Tucker has had a brilliant tournament for Ireland, scoring 191 runs across the tournament and averaging 47.75. If Ireland are to pull an upset over New Zealand they will need him to finish off their World Cup with a bang.
