During their match T20 World Cup Super 12 Group 2 match, South Africa were awarded five penalty runs due to a lapse from Bangladesh wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan.
Taskin Ahmed had Temba Bavuma caught behind early at the Sydney Cricket Ground, but Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw tore into the Bangladesh bowlers after that. The rain break did not deter them, and South Africa were 63-1 by the time Bangladesh were done with the powerplay, and 91-1 after 10 overs.
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan bowled the 10th over. De Kock managed only three off the first three balls, but Rossouw hit the next three balls for four, six, and six. The sixth ball was also a no ball, which allowed them an extra ball and a free hit.
Rossouw slammed the additional ball towards deep square-leg, where the fielder caught the ball. It was not a dismissal, of course, and the batters got a run in the bargain.
The umpires, Rod Tucker and Langton Rusere, had a conversation after the ball (and the over). They awarded five penalty runs to South Africa, for Nurul had moved after Shakib had released the ball and before it had reached Rossouw.

Law 27.4.1 states:
“27.4 Movement by wicket-keeper
“27.4.1 After the ball comes into play and before it reaches the striker, it is unfair if the wicket-keeper significantly alters his/her position in relation to the striker’s wicket…
“27.4.2 In the event of unfair movement by the wicket-keeper, either umpire shall call and signal Dead ball and inform the other umpire of the reason for doing so. The bowler’s end umpire shall then…
“27.4.2.2 award 5 Penalty runs to the batting side
27.4.2.3 inform the captain of the fielding side of the reason for this action.
27.4.2.4 inform the batters and, as soon as practicable, the captain of the batting side of what has occurred.”
Nurul had moved, and Bangladesh were rightly penalised. However, it is not clear why the umpires did not signal a dead ball, something they had done when South Africa were handed a five-run penalty against Zimbabwe earlier in the tournament.
