Philander’s last professional game came in January 2020, with the right-armer employed by Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup in a coaching shake-up. He claimed 224 Test wickets at 22.32, famed for his consistency and ability to nibble the ball, and he looked a handful for Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim Jr. as he trundled in during a practice session.
There were several blocks, edges and false shots even amid some more convincing strokes, with the 36-year-old showing he’s still got the goods.
