Watch: There was a flashpoint in the T20 World Cup encounter Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Sharjah when Lahiru Kumara and Liton Das squared off after the latter’s dismissal.

Bangladesh started positively against Sri Lanka, with their openers adding 40 runs for the first wicket. Sri Lankan fast bowler Kumara provided the first breakthrough in the sixth over. Bangladesh had only added two runs off the over’s first fours ball, and Das sought to take advantage of the remaining fielding restrictions.

He tried to go over the inner-circle, but despite backing away was not able to quite achieve the elevation. He ended up gifting the ball to mid-off who took a straightforward catch before the two players came together.

Words were exchanged before the two players walked towards each. Mohammad Naim, Das’ opening partner, intervened and tried to shove away the bowler, even as others tried to get ahold of Kumara before the umpires  jumped in and separated the two parties.

Mark Nicholas, on the air, was unimpressed, saying: “I don’t think I’ve seen that, I really don’t. Not a good look for the game of cricket.”
