In the Group 1 clash between Bangladesh and South Africa at Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh could never get going on a track which had a layer of grass on it, something that assisted South Africa’s quicks. They were sent in to bat first, but soon found themselves at 34-4 after Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje had ripped off their top-order.

Liton Das and Mahedi Hasan tried their best to get Bangladesh to a respectable total, but wickets at regular interval ensured that they were languishing at 84-8 by the time Anrich Nortje began his final over.

This became 84-9, when Mahedi Hasan tried to pull Nortje and ended up gifting him a caught and bowled. Nasum Ahmed, on strike for the next ball, tried to utilise Nortje’s pace, getting on the back foot, and tried to hoick the ball through the leg side. However, he backed up too far and ended up connecting his bat with his stumps.

It all happened so quickly that commentator Mark Nicholas thought the batter had been bowled.

With this strange dismissal, Bangladesh were bowled out for 84.
