England’s stunning bowling performance in Dubai saw the defending champions reduced to 44-6 before Rashid entered the attack to bowl the 11th over.

The leg-spinner was immediately amongst the wickets, bowling Russell with a delivery that snuck between bat and pad to bowl him for a two-ball duck. The delivery set Rashid on his way to a haul of 4-2, the best figures by an England bowler in men’s T20Is, as West Indies were bowled out for 55.

Earlier in the innings Moeen Ali and Tymal Mills – playing his first match for England since 2017 – had both claimed figures of 2-17.

England eventually secured a six-wicket win as Jos Buttler top-scored with 24 not out off 22 balls. West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein claimed figures of 2-24.
