South Africa have won both of their first two matches of the tournament and have looked in fine form while doing so. They struck the highest score in men’s ODI World Cup history in their opening game against Sri Lanka, hitting 428-5. Three of their batters hit centuries in that game, with Aiden Markram recording the fastest hundred in the competition’s history off just 49 balls.

Quinton de Kock has looked in particularly good touch, hitting centuries in both South Africa’s match against Sri Lanka and their following one against Australia. While the bowlers looked less impressive against Sri Lanka, Tabraiz Shamsi came into their attack against Australia and took two wickets, while Kagiso Rabada took three-for.

The Netherlands have shown signs of promise in the tournament so far but have understandably returned two losses. They reduced Pakistan to 38-3 in their opening match, before falling to an 81-run defeat, and lost to New Zealand by 99 runs. With three tough fixtures making up their first of the tournament, the pressure hasn’t eased up on them.

The game will also be the third of the competition at the picturesque ground in Dharamsala. England beat Bangladesh at the stadium in its last fixture, with Dawid Malan finding 140 runs on the surface. There looked to be limited opportunities for spin bowlers on the surface in that game, meaning both sides could look to play a seamer-heavy balance.

The game will also mark the end of the third round of matches, with all sides having played three games after the fixture.
