India were well into England’s batting lineup in the chase. Having posted 229-9 after being put into bat by Jos Buttler, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah tore through the top order to reduce the defending champions to 39-4.

Shami was called back into the attack shortly after Kuldeep Yadav bowled Jos Buttler to give Indies their fifth wicket. Shami’s first ball was a beauty, on a length inviting Moeen to drive, and scratching the outside edge of his bat. KL Rahul easily gathered the ball in his gloves and threw it up in the air as Shami roared in celebration.

The breakthrough also caused Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to show how happy their were with their side’s position. Kohli ran towards his captain wide-eyed with his arms in the air, high-fiving Shami before running past him to embrace Rohit.

The two double high-fived before Rohit was lifted up into the air by Kohli’s hug. Following the wicket, England were left at 81-6 in the 24th over and Shami with figures of 3-5.

Chris Woakes was the next wicket to fall after running past a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja and being stumped by Rahul. The loss is England’s fourth consecutive defeat in the competition, and further cement their place at the bottom of the table.
