India were off to a blazing start after being asked to bat first by Australia, thanks to Rohit Sharma, who played aggressively right from the word go yet again.

At the end of six overs, the hosts were 40-1, with Rohit looking good on a 21-ball 32 and a freshly arrived Virat Kohli on three from eight balls.

Kohli charged down the wicket off the first ball of the seventh over, from Mitchell Starc: he hit a length ball through wide mid-on – he dragged the shot somewhat – to get a four.

Starc retorted by bowling short outside off stump, and Kohli got on his tippy toes to open the face of the bat, timing the ball for a boundary with a glorious back-foot punch. He followed it with a magnificent drive between cover and mid-off to hit three fours in a row.
