Pakistan started well after being put to bat first against India. Openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam ul Haq gave Pakistan a quick start, taking the visitors’ score to 41 before Siraj wrapped Shafique around his pads. Imam returned to the pavilion for a steady 36 (38) as they lost their second wicket for 73 runs.

Skipper Babar and the centurion from the last match, Mohammad Rizwan, put on an 82-run partnership to steady the ship. When it looked like they would score over 350, Siraj struck with Babar’s wicket.

Bowling the 29th over, Siraj fired a delivery in on a fourth stump line. Babar, who had already scored his maiden half-century against India, tried to run the ball to third man. Unfortunately, the ball kept low and clipped the top of the off-stump. Siraj roared in celebration along with an electric Ahmedabad crowd. The Pakistan captain returned to the pavillion for a well-made 50 (58) after his twin failures against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan slipped to 177-7 after his dismissal, losing four quick wickets for 22 runs.
