At Chepauk, Afghanistan won their first ever ODI against Pakistan. They restricted Pakistan to 282-7 before chasing down the target with eight wickets in hand.

Batting first, Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq in the 11th over, when he pulled Azmatullah Omarzai straight to Naveen-ul-Haq at mid-wicket.

Babar Azam joined Abdullah Shafique, and the two took the score to 78-1 after 15 overs. At this stage, Mohammad Nabi came to bowl his off-breaks at Shafique.

Nabi strode in, then stopped abruptly in his run-up, and uttered a few words at Babar, who was inside the crease at the non-striker’s end when Nabi had stopped.

By the time Nabi’s words had registered, however, Babar had left the crease. He quickly returned his bat to the safety of the crease again. Nabi gestured at Babar, presumably insisting he stayed put inside the crease, as he returned to the start  of his run-up.

It is worth a mention that in a match between the same two sides two months ago, Fazalhaq Farooqi of Afghanistan had run out an errant Shadab Khan of Pakistan.
