Jasprit Bumrah provided India the first breakthrough after Afghanistan batted first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the Afghan openers, took Afghanistan to 28-0 after six overs.

In came Bumrah to bowl the second over, and the first ball flew off Zadran’s edge to the boundary. Bumrah switched to a hard length, and Zadran was unable to score off the next two balls.

The fourth ball was the sucker punch: slightly back of a length, the ball landed around off and straightened slightly. Zadran merely played a defensive prod, but the snick went to wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who safely pouched the ball.

Bumrah took off in celebration, pointing to his temple, presumably to announce that he had out-thought Zadran. The celebration was almost certainly inspired by England footballer Marcus Rashford, who has been in terrific form since his return from the long injury hiatus.
