Australia were sent to bat first by Pakistan. Openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh went all guns blazing, cashing in on the belter of a pitch. The duo brought up 100 runs on the board in a flash. Pakistan bowlers were treated with disdain and got hammered all over the park.

Pakistan introduced Haris Rauf after eight overs. Warner immediately unleashed mayhem, taking full advantage of Rauf’s pace.

Warner started with a boundary before dispatching the next ball to the roof of the stadium. Rauf’s ball came at 146 kmph, but Warner simply scooped it behind square on the leg side.

It was perhaps premeditated, for Warner had braced his front foot across to the leg side, while lunging the back foot as he collapsed. In the process, he hit the ball off the middle of his bat for a mammoth six.

Warner ran a single next ball, and Marsh capped off the over with three successive fours, taking 24 runs off Rauf’s first over.

At the time of writing, Australia were 163-0 in 22.4 overs with Warner on 77 and Marsh on 75.
