CWC 2023: South Africa vs Bangladesh match preview
South Africa will head into the clash full of confidence after the thrashing they gave to the defending champions a couple of days back. Skipper Temba Bavuma missed the game due to a stomach bug.
There’s no clarity regarding his participation in this game, but even if he is not available, South Africa will rest assured knowing that they have Reeza Hendricks as the backup opener, who came good in the previous game despite being informed of playing just five minutes before the toss.
Bangladesh have a lot of soul searching to do. They have lost three of their first four matches in the tournament and are in the do-or-die zone as far as semifinal qualification is concerned. Taskin Ahmed was left out for Hasan Mahmud in the last game as the former has not been effective at the World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan missed the India game as well due to an injury but is expected to be back in the side. He will replace Nasum Ahmed if he does make it back, strengthening their batting significantly.
SA vs BAN fantasy tips
# Quinton de Kock had a rare failure in the previous game against England. In the only other ODI he has played at the Wankhede (in 2015), he scored a century. His first two knocks at this World Cup were three-figure scores. He should be in your side.
# Shakib Al Hasan was the Player of the Match in the clash between these two sides at the 2019 World Cup. He is Bangladesh’s lynchpin with both bat and ball and has been in decent form. He should make it to your XI.
# Most of the South African batting line up should feature in your team, particularly in case they bat first. If South Africa field first, David Miller should definitely be in your side since he has a brilliant record while chasing.
# Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah have been Bangladesh’s two best batters at this World Cup. Batting in the lower middle order, they won’t have to face the new ball, the only period where the bowlers are expected to have some help at the Wankhede, making it easier for them to score. Both should feature in your XI.
