CWC 2023: India vs Bangladesh match preview
The World Cup moves to Pune as India and Bangladesh are scheduled to meet at the MCA International Stadium on October 19. Both teams have played three matches each, with India winning all three with Bangladesh winning just one.
This will be just the fourth ODI that Bangladesh will play against India in India, with their last one having come 25 years back in 1998.
Coming to the venue, Pune is one of the fastest-scoring venues in India. The last six ODIs played here have yielded an average first innings score of 307. While bowlers, overall, have struggled here, spinners have found it particularly tough, averaging 68.52 and taking only 21.83 per cent of the wickets to fall in the last six ODIs here.
Team News
Shubman Gill returned to the India XI in the last match against Pakistan, much to the relief of Indian fans. With that, India now have their first choice XI fit and available. With the Pune surface not expected to assist spin, India should continue with the same combination with Shardul Thakur at No.8 with Ashwin sitting out.
Bangladesh might have to rejig their plans, though. They are a spin-heavy side but given the conditions, they might look to play four fast bowlers, including Hasan Mahmud, who hasn’t got a game so far. It might come at the expense of Mahmudullah or Tanzid Hasan.

Shakib Al Hasan suffered a quadriceps injury in Bangladesh’s last game against New Zealand but he is expected to be fit for the match.
IND vs BAN fantasy tips
# Rohit Sharma has scored 217 runs in the last two games at a strike rate of 147.6. With Pune being a flat surface, Rohit has another great opportunity to put up a big score. He should feature in your XI.
# Bangladesh have two left-arm seamers, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam. The latter in particular is a brilliant exponent of the new ball. The only help that is available to bowlers in Pune is to fast bowlers in the first few overs. With Rohit and Gill both looking to attack early on, it will present an opportunity to Shoriful for early wickets. He can be in your side.
# Virat Kohli averages 64 with a strike rate of 92 at this venue. From seven ODIs here, he has hit three 50s and 2 100s. He clearly enjoys batting here and should be a certainty in your XI.
# Litton Das has blown hot and cold at the World Cup so far, having scored a 76 against England, with two scores of less than 15 on either side of that. However, he has happy memories of playing against India – he scored a 27-ball 60 against them at the Adelaide Oval in the T20 World Cup last year and given the kind of batter he is, would like the ball coming onto the bat on the Pune surface. He can feautre in your XI.
