South Africa finished seventh among the seven teams that qualified for the 2023 World Cup through the Super League – though that has to do with the fact that they conceded the series in Australia.

At the World Cup, South Africa start with warm-up matches against Afghanistan and New Zealand, both at Thiruvananthapuram. They begin the World Cup against Sri Lanka at Delhi on October 7, and round off the league stage against Afghanistan at Ahmedabad on November 10.

South Africa play twice at Mumbai, against England on October 21 and against Bangladesh on October 24.

At the World Cup, South Africa’s win-loss ratio of 1.652 is only behind Australia’s 3 and India’s 1.827. They missed the first four editions and, despite semi-final appearances in 1992, 1999, 2007, and 2015, they have never made it to the final.
