Pakistan have made two changes to their playing XI against South Africa, selecting Mohammad Wasim Jr and Mohammad Nawaz in place of unwell Hassan Ali and Usama Mir.
The Babar Azam-led side have lost their last three games to India, Australia and Afghanistan and need a turnaround as they look to get their World Cup campaign back on track. Ali’s will be a big loss for the side – the quick is the second-highest wicket-taker from the side, with eight wickets in four games. He has been the most economical pacer from the side, conceding 5.82 runs an over.
Wasim Jr will be playing his first game in the ODI World Cup, having earlier picked up a wicket each in the two warm-ups against New Zealand and Australia.
Pakistan have also dropped Mir from their XI, having earlier handed him a World Cup debut against Australia. Mir had come in place of vice-captain Shadab Khan in the XI, but he ended up taking one wicket in the two games that he played, conceding a combined 137 runs in 17 overs.
Shadab, who replaced Nawaz in the team against Afghanistan after the latter fell ill, retains his place against South Africa.

South Africa, on the other hand, have welcomed back skipper Temba Bavuma, who missed the last two games as he was unwell. The Proteas, who are second on the points table with four wins, have made three changes to their side.
“Three changes – I come back, Tabriz Shamsi and Ngidi comes in. Reeza Hendricks, Rabada and Lizaad Williams miss out,” Bavuma said at the toss.
