The return of seasoned campaigners like Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackerman has bolstered their squad. The duo wasn’t a part of their ICC Qualifiers runners-up finish. Under the leadership of Scott Edwards, the side has performed well in recent times. They have packed their team with all-rounders and bat deep.
Fast bowling all-rounder Logan van Beek scripted one of the most noteworthy performances in the qualifying event in Zimbabwe. He hit 30 runs off Jason Holder in an ODI Super Over against the West Indies. Later, Van Beek defended the score while picking up 2 wickets and conceding only eight runs.
In their last assignment at the 2022 T20 World Cup, the Dutch team pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the competition. South Africa tumbled out of the semi-final race after the Netherlands had a 13-run victory over them in one of the Super 12 matches in Adelaide.
The 1996 World Cup marked the maiden participation of the team in the quadrennial event. They failed to qualify for the next three editions but featured in successive ones from 2003 to 2011. They again didn’t meet the qualification criteria in 2014 and 2019. This will be their fifth time playing at the marquee tournament.
