Raza made headlines once again in the wake of the numerous sensational claims surrounding the clinical performances of India in the ongoing World Cup. After alleging the BCCI and the ICC of using “suspicious balls” to favour the hosts, Raza stirred the pot once more by accusing the apex bodies of tampering with the Decision Review System (DRS).
The former Pakistan international drew a lot of flak from the cricketing fraternity for his controversial remarks, including former captain Wasim Akram, who noted that such controversial statements damage the reputation of Pakistan and its players.2e
Speaking to A Sports, Akram slammed Raza: “I want to have the same things these guys are having. Sounds like fun. Because their mind is not there. They get slammed by the world and take us down as well. ”

Shami, who has been in stellar form for India with the ball, chimed in to debunk the accusations as “random nonsense”. Posting a story on his Instagram account, the pacer wrote: “Have some shame. Focus on the game, not on random nonsense. For once, try to enjoy others’ success. This is the ICC World Cup, not your local tournament.
He urged Raza to at least pay heed to Wasim Akram, a legend of the game and retorted with the trending phrase “just like a wow” in an act of sarcasm.
“You were actually a player, right? Wasim bhai explained it, but still – you don’t believe your own player, your own Wasim Akram. You are busy praising yourself. Wow.”
