Lungi Ngidi left the ground clutching his hamstring, leaving his last over against India incomplete at the Eden Gardens.

By the time Ngidi came on to bowl the 50th over, Virat Kohli, celebrating his 35th birthday, had already brought up his much-anticipated 49th ODI hundred to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s world record.
Ravindra Jadeja charged at Ngidi’s first ball, but swung and missed. Perhaps anticipating another charge, Ngidi altered his line to bowl away from Jadeja, but he overcompensated in the process to concede a wide.
Ngidi now bowled a slower delivery, but Jadeja read it, and slog-swept the ball over deep mid-wicket for six, bringing the Eden Gardens to its feet. At this stage, Ngidi clutched his hamstring, and it became evident that he would be unable to complete his over. He left the ground with figures of 8.2-0-63-1.
Asked to complete the over, Marco Jansen was dispatched for two fours by Jadeja before he restricted India to a single off each of his last two balls as India finished on 326-5, Kohli on 101 in 121 balls, and Jadeja on 29 in 15.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma had blasted his way to a 24-ball 40, while Iyer made 77 in 87 balls. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj bowled a remarkable spell for his 1-30 from 10 overs.
Update: Ngidi batted later in the day. He came out with South Africa on 79-8 after 25.4 overs.
