Rohit Sharma took over the leadership duties in late 2021. Since then, he has 73 wins from 99 outings, with an impressive win percentage of 73.37. His outstanding stint has been pivotal to India’s success in all three formats of the game.
Rohit led India to Asia Cup wins in 2018 and 2023; a semi-final berth at the 2022 T20 World Cup; and a final finish at the 2023 World Test Championship. His five IPL trophies for Mumbai Indians solidify his credibility as a captain further.
All hopes lie on Rohit’s shoulders as India are keen to end their ten-year trophyless streak in the ICC tournaments. Rohit has led with authority in World Cup 2023, as India are the only undefeated team with five wins from as many matches.
On most occasions, he has set the tone of the innings with his blazing batting display.
