The 2023 men’s ODI World Cup starts on October 5 in India. With just two weeks left to go for the event, Adidas, India’s current kit sponsor, has launched India’s new jersey for the tournament.

The new jersey has been launched through a video anthem created for the Indian team for the 2023 World Cup. The anthem, named “3 ka dream”, signifies the spirit of how India will be aiming for their third men’s ODI World Cup trophy.

Adidas came on board as the Indian cricket team’s kit sponsor in May earlier this year, taking over from “Killer”, the previous sponsor. The Indian men’s team sported their first Adidas jerseys during the World Test Championship final against Australia in June. The 2023 men’s ODI World Cup is the second ICC tournament where the Indian men’s team will wear Adidas jerseys.

The colour of the iconic three stripes of Adidas has been changed from white to tricolour, representing the three colours on the Indian national flag: saffron, white, and green.

The other major change has been the number of stars on the chest, just above the BCCI emblem. For bilateral matches, three stars are sported signifying the three World Cup trophies India have won – two ODI World Cups and one T20 World Cup.

For the 2023 World Cup, however, the star count has reduced from three to two signifying the two ODI World Cup trophies India have previously won.

India’s World Cup campaign starts on October 8, against Australia in Chennai. Before that, however, they have a three-match ODI series against the same opponents spanning from September 22 to September 27.
