England opener Jason Roy is set to miss Tuesday’s game against Australia at Lord’s due to his ongoing hamstring injury.
Roy had a scan in London on Monday morning before joining the rest of the squad at Lord’s for a training session, where he managed to bat.
However, it appears that Sunday’s game with India is a more likely return date for the Surrey batsman, who tore his hamstring during England’s win against West Indies and subsequently missed games against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Captain Eoin Morgan confirmed the news, saying England “will see how it goes” with the 28-year-old.
“He went for a scan this morning,” he said. “It’s all positive news, he won’t be fit tomorrow but we will monitor his progress this week. Of course he’s a big loss, it’s Jason Roy. He’s an outstanding performer who epitomises the way we play as a group.”

Roy’s absence provides another chance for James Vince at the top of the order. The Hampshire captain has struggled in his two outings so far with scores of 14 and 26.
