Moeen Ali has backed Jofra Archer‘s Cricket World Cup impact to continue after claiming he has never faced a bowler as quick as his England team-mate.
Archer announced himself on the international stage with a frightening display of pace as the pre-tournament favourites opened up with victory over South Africa on Thursday.
The Barbados-born quick, fast-tracked into England’s limited-overs set-up earlier this year, touched 94 miles-per-hour at The Oval during an opening spell which proved too much for 175-cap Hashim Amla to handle.
Moeen, who has taken guard to the likes of Mitchell Starc and Jasprit Bumrah in recent times, said: “Jofra is amazing.

“He just makes good batters do different things, that pace he has is incredible. He is the fastest I have ever faced.
“It is unbelievable. He gives us that something else, he can win you games even if he goes for a few runs.
“Knowing you have him in your side makes a big difference.”

Archer finished with three wickets against South Africa and will have the chance to add to his tally on Monday, when Pakistan return to Trent Bridge to take on the hosts on the back of their drubbing by West Indies at the same venue.
A short-pitched assault from Andre Russell and Oshane Thomas saw Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side dismissed for just 105 on Friday, and Pakistan pace great Waqar Younis said: “You can be sure that a certain Jofra Archer will be licking his lips.
“I have loved what I have seen of him so far. He is going to be the man that the world will remember when all is said and done at this World Cup.”
