Watch: Glenn Phillips added to his record of outstanding catches with another one-handed blinder to dismiss Virat Kohli cheaply during the final Champions Trophy 2025 group fixture between New Zealand and India in Dubai.
Phillips’ moment of brilliance came off the fourth ball of the seventh over of India’s innings bowled by Matt Henry.
The ball was shot and wide and Kohli, having got a four off a leading edge off the previous ball, cut it with brute force. The ball was flying to the right of Phillips, who was patrolling the point region. Phillips flung himself in the air, outstretched his body towards the ball to pluck it out of thin air while almost being horizontally to the ground.
"Almost caught it behind him. But his reaction time is so quick it leaves Virat stunned," an ecstatic Ian Bishop on commentary said.
Kohli walked back for 11 in his 300th ODI. As a result, India were reduced to 30-3, having lost Shubman Gill (2) and Rohit Sharma (15) early on.
Phillips has made a name for himself for pulling off these blinders. Against Pakistan in the curtain-raiser, he took a similar catch at backward point to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan, who had to walk back for a 14-ball three in a 321-run chase.
