Rachin Ravindra smashed a match-winning century in a Champions Trophy fixture against Bangladesh today (February 24) to etch his name in record books.
New Zealand slipped to 15-2 while chasing Bangladesh’s 236-9. Playing his first match of the tournament in place of an ill Daryl Mitchell, Ravindra struck a 105-ball 112 to bring life back into New Zealand’s innings. By the time he was out in the 39th over, New Zealand only needed 36 runs more for victory. Ravindra’s knock was studded with 12 fours and a six.
After a period of lean run, Tom Latham continued his good form with another vital contribution – a 55 off 76 balls. New Zealand won the match comfortably by five wickets.

Ravindra's century was his fourth in ICC tournaments, surpassing greats like Viv Richards, and Hashim Amla, among others, who have three to their tally.

The all-time list is headed by Rohit Sharma, who has eight centuries to his tally in ICC tournaments, of which five alone came in the 2019 ODI World Cup, a record in a single edition.
Among New Zealand players, Ravindra broke Nathan Astle and Kane Williamson's joint-most tally of three hundreds.
