Against New Zealand at Dubai in the 2025 Champions Trophy, Virat Kohli became the seventh Indian and 22nd overall to play 300 men’s ODIs.
Kohli had made his ODI debut on the Sri Lanka tour of August 2008, a few months after he had led India to the Under-19 World Cup title in Malaysia. His ODI career coincided with the rise of the IPL and T20 cricket in general, which makes his 300 caps a remarkable feat. Kohli’s 51 ODI hundreds are the most in the history of the format, while his 14,085 runs are the third-most.
Among contemporary cricketers, Mushfiqur Rahim (274) has played the most ODIs after Kohli, followed by Rohit Sharma (270). Shakib Al Hasan, probably active but without an ODI appearance since 2023, is next, with 247.
The other Indians to have reached the 300-mark are Sachin Tendulkar (463), MS Dhoni (350), Rahul Dravid (344), Mohammad Azharuddin (334), Sourav Ganguly (311), and Yuvraj Singh (304). Among them, Dhoni (347 ODIs only for India), Dravid (340), Ganguly (308), and Yuvraj (301) have represented other teams too.
