The 2025 Champions Trophy starts on February 19 with hosts Pakistan taking on New Zealand. Before the tournament begins, Pakistan will play a tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, Sri Lanka against Australia and India against England to prepare for the global event. Here are the updated ICC ODI team rankings before the ODIs.
This year’s Champions Trophy marks the return of the tournament after eight years. Pakistan won the last edition played back in 2017. As the host nation and titleholders, Pakistan will play against the top seven ODI teams of the world to retain their trophy.
The eight teams are divided into two groups for the first stage, with each playing three league matches. The top two teams from each group will reach the semi-finals leading into the final on March 9.
Group A features Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and New Zealand, while Group B consists of Afghanistan, England, Australia and South Africa.
"It was not merely a fast innings or a big innings. It was all that and an unusually correct innings as well in the traditional sense."

Initially, Pakistan were given the hosting rights entirely for the tournament. However, BCCI's reluctance to send the Indian team across the border led to a hybrid model, with the tournament now set to be held jointly in Pakistan and the UAE.
According to a Dainik Jagran report, India will likely play a warm-up match at the Dubai International Stadium, their venue for the tournament. They are poised to play either Bangladesh or UAE in a practice fixture.
Updated ICC Men's ODI team rankings
India currently sit at the top of the rankings with a team rating of 118. Before their campaign begins, they will play a three-match ODI series against England at home, the result of which may influence their rankings.
The teams that closely follow them are second-placed Australia, with a rating of 113, and third-placed Pakistan, with a rating of 111. Australia’s series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan’s tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa could have a bearing on the top three standings since the difference in team ratings is negligible.
Bangladesh, placed ninth, are the lowest-ranked team among the eight participants. They currently have a team rating of 81, which is likely to remain unchanged before their curtain-raiser.
